Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation(SDC) and eSewa Collaborate to Drive Financial Inclusion in Madhesh Province

Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) has partnered with eSewa Ltd. to launch a new co-creation initiative under the DIGI Nepal program, aiming to make financial services more accessible to underserved communities in Madhesh Province.

This initiative is focused on supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and low-income households—many of whom face challenges in accessing formal financial services. The project introduces collateral-free digital lending, with a strong focus on women entrepreneurs and migrant households without having to visit physical bank branches or pledge property. Moreover, the program also provides digital financial literacy training.

This partnership aligns with the Swiss cooperation program’s broader goal of promoting inclusive economic development in Nepal. By focusing on financial inclusion, the initiative aims to create long-term positive change - supporting income generation, business growth, and financial independence for many in the region.
