The Annual General Meeting of the 21st Asian Payment Network Forum organized by Fonepay was held at the Hilton Kathmandu, Nepal from May 6-7, 2025. This event brought together distinguished representatives from 14 APN member countries, setting the stage for strategic dialogue on the future of cross-border retail payments across Asia. Over two days, delegates engaged in high-level discussions, shared insights, and explored avenues to strengthen digital financial cooperation throughout the region.

A notable highlight of the forum was a formal visit to the Prime Minister’s Office, where delegates had the honor of meeting the Rt. Honorable Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. This event reflects the Government of Nepal’s commitment to enhancing regional cooperation and innovation in the digital payment sector.

The Annual General Meeting concluded with the announcement of Nepal where Fonepay was elected as Co-Chair of the Asian Payment Network. Representing Nepal and the company, Fonepay, Biswas Dhakal will serve as Vice Chairman of the Asian Payment Network. His appointment marks a significant milestone in Nepal’s expanding role within the digital economy. In this role, he will contribute to shaping the future of digital payments in Asia by fostering collaboration, promoting innovation, and leveraging shared expertise.
